Lessons from Pooh

So, Winnie-The-Pooh has been going on for a few weeks now. We've found our groove, know what works, and are still having a generally good time with the show. (That, of course, is only when we're not performing for screaming babies or talkative kids.)

We only have, I believe, two weeks left and I think we'll end strong. Maybe not strong in sales but strong in performance. This show was PERFECTLY CAST. Everyone adds their own flavor to the story. Including Justin, who steals the show with his Eeyore 'tail celebration' dance.

After each show we sign autographs and talk to the families. Are number one question is "Where is Tigger?" This is then followed by semi-long explanation about how Tigger didn't appear until the second book, House At Pooh Corner and this play is adapted from the first book.

Sometimes, I do pinch myself about being an actress. Am I REALLY doing this for a living? Did I just perform for 100 people in tights and a leotard? (sigh) I'm blessed! Maybe it's the optimist in me, but...life is pretty darn wonderful sometimes! I think the ending of the show illustrates that perfectly:

PIGLET. When you wake up in the morning, Pooh, what's the first thing you say to yourself?
POOH. "What's for breakfast?" What do you say?
PIGLET. I say, "I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?"
POOH. It's the same thing.
